High quality, hand made, in the USA, custom saddle pads designed to provide superior protection and comfort for your horse. Quality and functionality have always been our top priority. We are constantly working to improve our pads, searching for better materials, and modifying the design to make a better product. After several years of trial and error, we feel like we have come up with one of the best saddle pads you can buy for your horse, and with numerous custom add-on options available, you can design a Wade Pad that is just right for you.
Picture
This picture demonstrates what we feel is the biggest advantage of our pads over solid felt pads, the channel down the center of the pad. The cross section sample shown sitting on the top of another pad shows how tapering the center core at the top of each side lifts the center of the pad up off the backbone of the horse. This helps reduce the amount of direct pressure on the spine.

Features

* Shaped to fit your horses back.

* Conforms to your saddle and your horse.

* Vented channel down the center of the pad to help relieve pressure on the spine and allow heat to escape.

* Constructed in layers intended to help relieve pressure points, absorb shock and last a long time.

*The different layers give you the durability of wool felt on the top while the core keeps its cushioning and conforming properties.

*Tapered under wear leathers for less bulk under legs, closer contact with your horse, and maximum flexibility

*Our standard sizes are 28"x30", 30"x32", 32"x34", and 34"x36", Standard thicknesses are 3/4", 1", and 1 1/4", but Custom sizes and thicknesses are available

Its made with a four layer center core of wool felt, memory foam, and air gel foam, and has a cut out over the withers along with the channel down the spine. Shown here with tooled leather border, custom corner and spots.

Wade Pads Series:

We have 3 different series of pads. The difference of each series is what makes up the center core of the pad. Our pads are made in layers with a top layer of 1/4" wool felt, then the center core, then a bottom layer of 1/4" wool felt with the option of closed cell foam for the bottom layer.

2000 Series - The center cores are made in layers also. The 2000 series has a center core of 2 layers, one of poly felt, and one of closed cell foam. This pad provides the advantages of wool felt on the outside with the advantages of a poly felt core. The fibers in the poly felt will reshape each time it is used and will not mat down. The closed cell foam adds extra shock absorption and blocks sweat from soaking up into the poly felt helping it to last longer. We feel this pad is superior to solid wool felt pads because pressed wool never stops felting, which means it gets thinner and harder each time you use it. The poly felt fibers will not mat down or get hard. The 2000 series is our best selling pad. It is an excellent pad, very durable with good shock absorption and will conform to your saddle and horse.

3000 Series
-  The 3000 series center core is made up of a thin layer of air gel foam, a layer of open cell memory foam, then a layer of closed cell foam. This makes a heavier, firmer pad than the 2000 series. Since the open cell memory foam is like a sponge we encase it between two layers of closed cell foam to keep moisture from getting into it. This combination helps to relieve pressure points, provides excellent shock absorption and will return to its original thickness after each use.  This pad gives you the advantages of wool felt on top and bottom with a core made of high quality foams that will conform to both the saddle and the horses back. The core will reshape each time it is used and is an excellent shock absorber. This pad is great for roping, ranching, barrel racing, or any other discipline. It will help with poor fitting saddles and can be customized for any fitting problems. While no saddle pad is a cure-all for a bad saddle fit, and there are some situations that a pad just won't fix, we have had a lot of positive feedback from our 3000 series pads helping with this problem.

LB Series  -  The LB Roper/Rancher pad is a new series we designed for heavy roping and all day riding. The core for the LB Roper/Rancher pad is variation of the 3000 series core with an extra layer of wool felt and 2 layers of air gel foam. A thin, firmer layer of air gel foam on top of the core helps spread the pressure from the saddle over a larger area but still allows the pad to shape to the saddle. A softer layer of air gel foam on the bottom of the core allows for greater cushioning and comfort as well as shock absorption. The core has a layer of wool felt and a layer of memory foam in between the 2 layers of air gel foam. The wool felt adds durability along with cushioning and compression while the memory foam helps the pad to shape to the saddle and horse. We designed this pad to be 11/4" total thickness but it can be modified for other thicknesses. It is 3/4" wool felt with 1/2" of memory foam and air gel foam to provide greater shock absorption and to help shape the pad to the saddle and horse.
Materials List - Below is a list of the materials we use for the pads and why we use them.

Wool felt used on the top and bottom:

The wool felt we use is made to our specifications. It is a needled felt with at least 80% wool. Since pressed wool felt never stops felting, (gets thinner and harder with heat, moisture, and pressure) we use needled felt because it is made with shorter fibers than the pressed felt which keeps it from felting. With proper care, this wool felt will last a very long time.

Poly felt used in the core of the 2000 series pad:

Poly felt has been used for saddle pads for many years because it doesn't mat down and the fibers will move and conform to the saddle to even out pressure.  We have had a lot of success using it in the core of our pads.

Closed cell foam:
We have used several closed cell foams over the years and we feel this is the best we have found for durability and shock absorption when used in the core of the pad or when used on the bottom of the pad next to the horse. We use this on the bottom of the core of the 2000 and 3000 series pad, between the wool felt bottom of the pad and the center core material, to keep sweat from soaking up into the core of the pad and to help absorb shock.

Open cell memory foam used in our 3000 series pad:
This foam is probably the best shock absorbing material available. It will conform to your saddle and your horse helping to eliminate excess pressure in one spot. It is the fastest to return to its original thickness, and while it is temperature sensitive, it is the least temperature sensitive of the ones we have tried. It will feel harder in cold weather, but when on the horse, it will warm up to the body temperature and soften up. It was made to absorb the shock of jet ejection seats, race car seats, and many other applications. We use this for the core of the 3000 series pads and the LB series pads.

Air gel foam:
The company we get this air gel foam from uses the same material they make the air gel from, but, by injecting air into the liquid gel, it makes a closed cell foam when cured. This makes it lighter and softer while keeping the shock absorbing properties of the gel. With the air cells throughout the foam it will help relieve excess pressure in one spot and is a great shock absorber. This foam is used on the top layer of the 3000 Series cores, and the top and bottom layer of the LB Series cores. An additional layer of this foam can be added to the core of the 2000 and 3000 Series pads to replace the regular closed cell foam as well.  While this foam is very expensive, it is the best closed cell foam available for absorbing shock and evening out the pressure of your saddle.
